Collingwood Minor Hockey
Collingwood Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) provides hockey programming for 400+ athletes, mostly boys now since the creation of the Collingwood Girls Hockey Association (COLGHA).
Collingwood Hockey has a long history of success competing for Ontario Championships, and recently approved to advance to an ‘A’ centre.
Last year, almost all of our Representative teams made it to the Provincial Championships. CMHA fields 25+ hockey teams each year and has continued to grow at a high rate every year, especially since the pandemic.
The Town of Collingwood currently has 2 ice surfaces, both of which are shared by mainly by CMHA and COLGHA as well as the Junior A Blues team and figure skating. Each year, it is a considerable challenge to obtain adequate ice time for games and practices, to the point that we seek extra ice from Thornbury. It won’t be long before we will not be able to properly develop our youth in hockey, as there has been a steady reduction in practice time over the last 5 years.
A multi-use facility would certainly give us the ability to continue to grow and excel, while offering a multi-pad location ideal for tournaments. Out of town hockey schools and camps continue to seek ice time at our facilities in the summer further taxing our ice availability.
