Collingwood Minor Baseball
The Collingwood Minor Baseball Association (CMBA) continues to grow year over year. While 2022 saw the most players registered to date, 2023 saw an uptick of 5% over 2022. There are now over 400 athletes within the CMBA throughout our Rep, Select, South Simcoe Minor Baseball, Local League and U6 L'il Champs divisions. In fact, our U6 program alone was just under 100 players in 2023, the most to date! Baseball continues to thrive in Collingwood, to the point where diamond availability is tight, and we look to outside centres, such as Nottawa for use of their diamonds as well.
With the success of our increased membership, in 2023 we brought back the 18U team, which was on hiatus for a few years. Baseball programming in Collingwood is on the rise - and the Central Park diamonds, the Legion diamond, Large Heritage and Small Heritage ballparks are in use 90% of the time.
New in 2023, a pilot project was undertaken with Beaver Valley Baseball and Wasaga Beach Baseball, to expand the territory at the Rep & Select levels to include these leagues within our boundary, thus reducing the number of "import" players. Through the support of York Simcoe Baseball (YSBA), we are continuing to include this expanded boundary within the CMBA footprint.
While baseball continues to thrive in Collingwood, more access to facilities would continue to foster the sport.
